Job Description:

Ocean Tomo’s Valuation practice offers companies professional intellectual property ('IP') valuation consulting services for a variety of needs including formal valuation opinions for acquisitions, corporate reorganization, financial reporting, litigation support and strategic management purposes. As an Associate in the Valuation practice area, you will work closely with Directors and Managing Directors focusing on the daily management of IP valuation engagements, including client contact, training and development of Analysts, financial analyses and modeling, market research, and preparation of valuation reports. We are seeking an Associate to join us in the San Francisco office.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing market, industry, company, technology and royalty rate research
  • Analyzing client-provided documents, reports and data
  • Directing Analyst efforts in preparing models, reports and other activities
  • Training Analysts on technical valuation concepts
  • Synthesizing research information used in valuations
  • Developing and reviewing financial models
  • Preparing written valuation reports and presentations for senior level review
  • Assisting with practice development efforts of the Directors and Managing Directors
  • Playing a supporting role in identifying and exploring new business opportunities

Experience and Skills:

Requirements:

  • MBA with areas of concentration including finance and accounting or economics: or
  • BS/BA in finance, accounting, business or economics with an advanced certification (CPA/CFA)
  • Mandatory 3 plus years of experience with valuation engagements in a consulting environment, intellectual property experience preferred
  • Engineering degree or technology background a plus
  • Distinguished academic achievement
  • Superior attention to detail and quality control
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential
  • Great attitude and client presence
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity and flexibility
